Words. (Inspired by Hawk Nelson)

"Can make us feel free or imprisoned. We can be heros, kings or criminals by changing one word. They are there when we need them and hurt at the same time. Words can build us up or break us. They can make us passionate."

Words. Did you ever think about a word. A word is comprised of prefixes, roots and suffixes- each of which hold a special meaning. But changing one or two letters we can either become a hero, a king or a criminal. They can change our speech from passive to active or vice versa. They can build someone up or tear someone down. We can tell someone how much we adore them but how much they bother us all in one simple phrase comprised of simple words.

We all enjoy hearing ourselves talk. It feels great sometimes to vent out our problems to a trusted friend or to share our triumphant stories with another. But have we really thought about the impact our words have on another person? By sharing a simple story or simple venting session, did we build up the person on the receiving end of the communication? Or did we just make them feel like a nobody? Did we force them to choose sides? Or did we allow them to rejoice with us? A simple word has the ability to make us feel passionate or to crush our hopes and dreams. We hear them all the time. People make comments about our work, about our personalities, etc.

But are we really listening to the one whose words really matter? When is the last time you truly listened to God? I mean let's face it, everyday thousands of words seek our attention and pull us in millions of directions. We think we hear we act. But do we really take the time to stop to sit to listen.

Jesus wants us to do just that. To sit in silence and just listen to what he has to say. And let's face it, no matter how good a story or good venting session is with another person, there is nothing better than being filled by the words of our Creator, THE MOST CREATIVE and BEST AUTHOR the world will ever know. He afterall did write the book of life. He currently is writing each of our life stories.

In what other moment in history has a character had the chance to truly interact with his-her creator (books like Niebla by Unamuno and the movie Burn this Book don't count). AT NO OTHER MOMENT THAN NOW!

I for one love words. I love linguistics and seeing how words are affected by culture, by regions, by context, etc. I am a word fanatic. I love to talk and I love to listen. I enjoy reading and I love writing. These are all things that fascinate me. However, they are so focused on the hear and now. On me. It is time for me to stop. to sit. and to listen.

With all the crazy things that have happened in the last year, I think it is time to share more with my Creator. To find out what my new purpose is and how to use all of these crazy experiences to help me make my words be LIFE. TRUTH. And to listen to His creative way with words, learn a thing or two and praise Him for all He has done! I want to start lighting fires of passion in people.

But for now, I need to relight the passion found within me. Its time to take the words spoken to me by Jesus and start to live freely once again to appreciate all the small things in life- good, bad, challenging, and uplifting. I can only imagine what WORDS He has to say.

"Let my words be life. Let my words be truth. I don't wanna say a word unless it points the world back to you."
